Welcome to 2016! I am so excited to dive right into a fresh year, and meet even more incredible people in my photography journey. One of my latest senior clients is Ashley, who seems more like a friend than a client. This driven, sweet girl is graduating from Eastmont High School, where she is simultaneously completing her AA degree as well through a program called Running Start. She will be continuing on after high school at Wenatchee Valley College, and then transferring to WSU. Ashley says she would probably describe herself as “caring, friendly and smart”, and says her personal hero is her mom. “She is my hero because she raised me on her own, and never complained about how hard it was. She did it with a smile, and now that I am older, I appreciate that more”, she told me. She and her mom heard about my photography from other seniors who had their photos done by me, and I’m so glad they picked me. It was a beautiful day together finding the perfect locations to shoot. Ashley says she loves shopping at Buckle, and she chose lots of outfits that would fit right in the cute displays at our local Buckle store! I loved her white lace top, and picture-perfect jeans! I also loved what she had to say about true beauty (hearing my seniors talk about beauty is one of my favorite discussions), “I believe true beauty is in the people who have a kind heart and are genuinely caring. I admire people who are confident in who they are without taking it to the extreme…the people who find the right balance in that.” Ashley admits that juggling her Running Start obligations is a lot on top of her normal high school tasks, but she says it is a great opportunity and it will save her time in the long run, adding, “It is much different than just doing regular high school, and I am really proud I have stuck with it, and almost have my AA”.
