Texas Senior Retreat: What I Learned

Hard work opens doors and shows the world that you are serious about being one of those rare – and special – human beings who use the fullness of their talents to do their very best. -Robin Sharma

WM_IMG_6368Being a specialized, senior photographer in little Wenatchee, Washington, its not often that I get to collaborate and learn from other photographers in my field. Two weeks ago, my little world got a whole lot bigger when I traveled to Austin, Texas, to learn from some of the most amazing photographers who are leading the industry. What an honor and an amazing experience. Two entire days of talking shop, learning to perfect my craft, and shooting some very poised and lovely models…that just barely scratches the surface of what I learned. I even met up with some gals I had met in April of last year, and that reunion made it even more fun. The highlight, if I could pick just one, would be meeting all the new and exciting people, who were instantly magnetic, and who I hope I remain friends with for a very long time! I know that by surrounding myself with amazing people, I will be fueled with new creativity and passion.

The most important thing that I walked away from the conference with was this: I have been playing it safe. I was there to learn and grow, and I had to step outside of my comfort zone, reach out to new people, and really focus on learning. What a gift to be among such talent and with people who demonstrate a love for the craft, and a vision to succeed. I cannot wait to apply what I have learned to my sessions!
